No-exam life insurance
Eligibility for expedited underwriting, how the process functions, and what differs if you don't qualify.
Numerous carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants who fall within specified age brackets and coverage limits, approval decisions rely on the application itself, pharmacy records, driving history, and other data—bypassing the need for a paramedical exam. Some carriers deliver approval decisions the same business day. Each quote displayed here indicates whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required.
What it changes
Accelerated processing doesn't eliminate underwriting scrutiny. Your responses undergo verification, and a policy issued based on inaccurate information may be challenged within the first two years. Should the carrier's records surface concerns, they may still request an exam or lab results; you'll have the option to proceed at that point.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants younger than around 60 seeking amounts within a carrier's accelerated underwriting cap, without significant health concerns and without tobacco or nicotine use for a year or longer, may qualify. Recent bloodwork from a medical appointment may be accepted by certain carriers as a substitute for an exam.
Should an exam be necessary, it's typically a 20 to 30 minute appointment conducted at your residence or workplace by a paramedic, at no charge. For healthy applicants, examination outcomes frequently result in a better rate classification, so an exam can actually work in your favor.
